FED:Memorial service for fallen soldier
Prime Minister JULIA GILLARD and Opposition Leader TONY ABBOTT will attend a memorial
service in Tasmania today for Corporal RICHARD ATKINSON .. the 22nd Australian soldier
to die in Afghanistan.
Corporal ATKINSON .. of the Darwin-based 1st Combat Engineer Regiment .. was killed
by an improvised explosive device while on patrol nearly two weeks ago.
Defence force chief ANGUS HOUSTON and Tasmanian Premier LARA GIDDINGS will also attend
the private service to be held at St John's Anglican Church in Launceston at 11am (AEDT).
